Up, up away in a basket. Going the extra mile (upwards) to get the best shots!!
About
Third generation photographer Liz Ellington came to New Zealand 22 years ago, spending the bulk of that time (21 years) in Christchurch.
Her passion for photography and capturing emotion, energy, colour and life in her photographs was fuelled prior with countless trips around the world.
After an eight year stint working for local government, enjoying co-ordinating projects, there was an urge to move on to new challenges and she worked as a real estate agent.
"I was horrified at how some properties were presented to the market in terms of their image profile in advertising" Liz says. "Badly exposed images, lost views through blown out windows, beautiful architecturally designed houses with converging (wonky) vertical walls. "Good images" she highlights "are an absolute key in getting interested parties to open homes. That old cliche saying " A picture paints a thousand words" - well it does!!
Liz loves the challenges of property photography, finding solutions to the technical side like dealing with different light sources, nasty reflections in glass and mirrors, unwanted colour casts in images. Then there is the creative side - capturing the mood in a room, portraying the softness of fabrics in the curtains, cushions, making people think when they look at my photos - wow, I just love that property". Liz enjoyed the property photography more than her role of real estate agent so photoWiz Creative Photography was launched in 2008, specialising in full time property photography in Christchurch.
Liz Ellington under the photoWiz Creative Photography brand built up customer loyalty from those who came to recognise her style, care and attention to detail. Her clients range from agents needing residential property photography to photographing commercial real-estate for lease or sale, show home photography, interior design photography for competitions, architectural photography, progressive building photography.
Liz has had the memorable experience of capturing the demolition of a number of significant buildings in the central city after the Christchurch earthquakes. "Definitely a highlight of my career" says Liz, " though a sad one seeing the devastation. For years I am photographing entire buildings and then I am photographing progressive shots of buildings coming down! See my Blog.
