One of the most defining moments in my photographic career was spending a year and a half photographing in the Christchurch red zone, an area cordoned off by officials as a no go area, after the devastating earthquakes. Every available moment was spent with the demolition crews, capturing the piece by piece dismantling of some of our most iconic buildings for property owners and demolition companies. An exciting experience for a photographer being a witness to and capturing these historic moments - this feeling was however overshadowed daily by a deep sense of sadness for lives lossed and lives and city changed forever.
